You might notice that flowers turn brown and die quickly. They bloomed well this year, but the leaves are turning brown, which is much earlier than last year. Brown spots on hydrangea leaves. All hydrangeas will turn brown if they wilt too many times in hot weather. In the last couple of months, it seems like every leaf is turning brown/black at the tip which then slowly moves through the rest of the leaf and it becomes dry. As the lesions get larger, the leaves can turn yellow and fall off the plant.
